Lipowax D Pastilles

INCI NAME: Cetearyl Alcohol and Ceteareth-20.

As a wax, it comes as white flakes and is usually made up of two components, fatty alcohol, and a fatty acid. Naturally derived, it will emulsify water and oil together to make a lotion or cream. It melted in the oil phase and makes up anywhere from 1.5% – 7% of a formula. Higher concentrations can make the product “tacky” or drag on the skin. This usually needs other co-emulsifiers to hold the product.

How to Use

Use as an emulsifying wax in creams and lotions to blend oil and water phases. Typical usage is 1.5%–7% of the total formulation. Higher amounts may increase thickness and create a tacky feel on the skin. Combine with other co-emulsifiers if needed for optimal stability and texture.

Mixture Instructions

Add the wax flakes to the oil phase of your formulation and heat gently until fully melted (typically 70–75°C). Separately, heat the water phase to the same temperature, then slowly combine with the melted wax while stirring continuously. Blend thoroughly until a smooth, uniform emulsion forms. Allow to cool while gently stirring for optimal texture and stability.
